DRUGS: Avoiding the use of drugs requires finding healthy activities that may be done with friends.  Join in after school activities like sports, music, drama, etc., or participate in clubs or organizations like the Boy Scouts.  Avoid just hanging around with nothing to do and stay away from people who you know use drugs. (Mr. R.)

GROWING-UP PROCESS: Your body will start to change as you become more mature.  Your shoulders widen and you get taller and more muscular--cool!  New hair will start to grow on your legs, arms, and chest.  Hair will also grow at the base of the private parts and your private parts get larger.  A light hair will form on your face (often called peach fuzz), but you aren't ready to shave yet!  After a year or so this hair will darken and you will begin to shave.  Inside your throat, your voice box is also growing (you'll see a bump called an Adam’s Apple).  Your voice will start to change and will sometimes "crack" or "break" as you speak.  In a few months, your voice will sound deeper and will stop the annoying “breaking.” (Mr. R.)

FINANCES: This would be an excellent time to start the Personal Management merit badge while you discuss finances with your family.  Might as well get credit for both at the same time!  See my Personal Management Passport(Mr. R.)
