      CREATING A TIMELINE 'POSTER'
A troop or patrol may create a large timeline poster as a group as long as EACH scout participates in its creation.  Up to five scouts may create a poster.  Create another poster if you have more than five scouts with each writing at least 2 reports.  The poster must be at least 22" x 56" in size.
The poster may be made from two poster boards put together.  A long piece of tape down the back will create a nice hinge so it can fold open and close (make sure the hinge is on the short 22" sides).  Butcher paper and newspaper roll ends will also make a nice poster.
Label the poster with an appropriate name, including the troop or patrol's name.  Draw a long horizontal line across the middle of the page (the timeline).  Make hash marks to divide the timeline into periods.  Date some major years (1800, 1850, 1900, etc.)
The group (up to 5 scouts) must now choose at least ten dates they feel are significant in environmental history.  Print a large date on each page and write a good description of the event.  Include pictures if you can find them.  Each scout should sign the pages they created.  Bring to camp to show finished product.
